McGroarty has played three times in recent weeks for East Stirling as a trialist, managing to score a few goals along the way. He recently went on trial with English third division/League Two side Lincoln City, but as they didn't offer him a contract he has agreed to join Scotland's worst team until the end of the season.
McGroarty was released by Saints last summer. He was signed from Dunfermline in January 2004 to take the place of the injured Laurie Ellis, and it was no surprise when he moved on. He signed for Dumbarton, but they realised he wasn't very good either and has now joined the Shire.
Meanwhile, another ex Saint won't be moving on. It was widely expected that goalkeeper Ludovic Roy would move from Ayr United to Falkirk shortly after Ayr's cup game against Saints, however it now looks likely that the move will happen in the summer instead.
