McKnight's first spell at Saints was plagued with injury and, guess what, this half season he's been injury prone as well. Nice one John Coughlin, so much for the "He's over the injuries" rubbish.
McKnight first arrived at Love Street in April 2000, having previously played with Rangers. Two late winners, against Falkirk and Ayr, which effectively secured the league meant his place in Saints folklore was secure, but it was soured by the fact he never scored again. In the entire SPL game he played just four time, and only a few times the following season. He was released in 2002, going back to Northern Ireland and playing with Linfield, where he did half decently but still got injured.
Coughlin brought him back at the start of the season, amid predictions that he'd always be injured. He was on lower pay when he got injured, but thats not the point. He made just four appearances this season, including one start, managing 114 minutes. That's still more than Kevin Twaddle I suppose, though neither have appeared since October.
McKnight want's to now go part time so he can continue at college. Hopefully we've got some funds free to sign a new player. Now if only we could get rid of Twaddle...
