McShane loaned to Hamilton

The 20-year-old was a sub against Hamilton in Saturday's Scottish Cup tie, coming on in the second half. Thankfully that means he is now cup tied and cannot play in next week's replay.

McShane had a successful loan spell at Dumbarton last season and was made part of the Saints first team squad over the summer when he was handed a new two year deal. He has made regular appearances from the subs bench and started against St Johnstone but has yet to score his first goal for the club.

The move should allow McShane to get regular first team football but it does leave us rather short of strikers - especially if Steven Thompson's injury doesn't clear up soon. Aside from him we have Paul McGowan and Nigel Hasselbaink, while Gary Teale and Aaron Mooy can also play there.

However, today's business does make us even more desperate for a new striker. Rumours persist that John Sutton will be returning to the club on loan with Falkirk's Farid El Alagui and Aberdeen striker Josh Magennis other names that have been suggested.
