Mehmet was the last player left who had been offered a new deal but had yet to make up his mind if he was staying. However, he's finally decided that he does indeed like scoring a couple of goals every April or May that turn out to be quite important and is staying put for at least another year.
The departure last week of John Sutton should see the former Dunfermline striker given a bigger role next season, although that could change depending who Saints boss Gus MacPherson signs during the course of the season.
Smith's contract didn't expire until next summer, but Saints have moved quickly to ensure he stays around a bit longer.
