Gkionis, who also holds Cypriot nationality, has spent the last few years playing in Belgium for Liege and the Excelsior Veldwezelt, neither of whom play in the top tier of Belgian football. Before that, he had time in Cyrprus, having come through the college football (not American football) system in the states.
Nick, sometimes known as Niko, is 6 foot 2 and plays central midfielder, although started off his career in defence. He was due to have trial spells with a number of lower league clubs in England last summer, so the fact none of them signed him doesn't bode well. However, there's no harm in bringing him in for a look - despite manager Danny Lennon saying he wouldn't be looking at any foreign players!
