It was nearly two weeks ago that Miranda was offered a deal after impressing as a trialist, and it was over seven days ago that he agreed to sign. The hold-up has been international clearance. It's finally come through, but it may be too late for him to play against Rangers tomorrow afternoon.
Miranda has spent the last 18 months with Helsingborg but it seems there is no announcement yet as to the terms of his Saints contract. There were suggestions the other day that it was a loan deal from a club in Argentina - perhaps it's these issues that have held up the deal.
Miranda can play anywhere down the left and is only Saints boss Gus MacPherson's second non Britain and Ireland signing - the other being the known quantity that was Mixu Paatelainen three years ago. It will be extremely interesting to see whether this is the first of many foreign signings, or an experiment that goes horribly wrong.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United midfielder Phil Mulryne's trial spell has ended and he will not be offered a contract. However, former Arsenal defender will be coming back next week and could be offered a deal.
