It would seem that Money is a bit of a shock contendor for the job, as it was assumed that another former Saint, Joe McLaughlin, would be handed the post. McLaughlin has been the caretaker boss for the past few weeks and hasn't done too badly, though Morton did lose at the weekend. Other candidates have included Richard Gough, Billy Reid and Paul Gascoigne.
Money had previously enjoyed success with Stranraer, winning the second division in 1998. He then moved to Ayr United as a coach, becoming manager in late 2002. The following season Ayr were relegated, and Money left in August 2004 amid financial problems. Money often filled his teams with ex Saints, and has often been linked with the Saints job when our managers have left.
If Campbell was to get the Morton job, hopefully he would continue the good work of fellow ex Saints Billy Stark and John McCormack, who didn't do much whilst in the Morton hotseat.
Elsewhere, former Saints boss John Coughlin has failed in his attempt to land the Berwick Rangers job. He was beaten to the post by former St. johnstone boss and BBC pundit Sandy Clark.
