Mulgrew Deal Unlikely

Last updated : 23 August 2006 By Stuart Gillespie
A few days ago, it seemed that Mulgrew was set to turn down the move to Molineux and sign for Saints instead, either on loan or permanently. However, assuming that he and Naylor both pass medicals and agree terms with the clubs involved, he is set to go on loan to Wolves for the season instead. There's an outside chance he could turn down the move, but that's unlikely.

This is a blow for Saints, as manager Gus MacPherson has made no secret of the fact he wants a left-back. The summer friendlies saw two trialists play at left back, but the interest was not taken any further.

With the transfer window closing a week tomorrow, it's beginning to look like Saints won't be making any further signings.
