The duo had successful loan spells with the Buddies last season, Dummett spending most of the season in Paisley while Newton bagged the winner in the League Cup Final during his six month stint.
However, their futures were uncertain as their contracts with Newcastle expired in the summer, with Saints supposedly making the pair offers to sign permanently. Celtic were also rumoured to be interested but instead they have decided to stick with the Magpies for another year.
It's almost certain they'll be loaned out again but it's unlikely to be Saints, Newcastle instead preferring to send them to Championship clubs. The English second tier is seen by many to be of a higher standard than the SPL and it would also be easier for Alan Pardew and co to keep tabs on them if they're playing down south. Already a number of Championship clubs have been linked with borrowing one or both to them.
Well done to Paul and Conor on their new deals - hopefully their success shows other youngsters it's worth coming to Saints on loan.
