Hummel have been increasing their presence in Scotland over the past few years, supplying kits to the likes of Dundee United, Kilmarnock and Hearts. Now they've added Saints to that range, and will also be supplying the reserve kit, leisurewear and the like.
This is good news, as it means Saints have an association with a major kit manufacturer without having to resorting to buying the kit from a sports shop, which is effectively what the likes of Queen of the South do.
There are two potential problems, however. One thing I've noticed from recent international tournaments is that the Danish national side - who's kits are made by Hummel - always seem to be playing in a strip too small. Also, Hearts chairman Vladimir Romanov complained a few years ago about the poor quality of Hummel's kits. But then, that's Mad Vlad and so should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Saints also confirmed an extension to their current deal with Provan Sports to stock the shirts. The new kits will be officially unveiled at the annual dinner tomorrow night.
