First off, Saints have signed someone. Stirling Albion's Mark Crilly has signed a pre contract agreement, and will sign a proper, 2 year contract with Saints in the summer. Crilly is a midfielder who seems to like tackling, as he has had a few disciplinary problems in the past. He's probably a replacement for Ricky Gillies, and has played previously for Ayr United and Dumbarton. It seems that this is the high calibre, highly sought after player, which seems a bit strange to me.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that both Gus MacPherson and James Grady will sign for Saints over the next few weeks. MacPherson has a year left on his contract, but Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour will talk to Dunfermline today about releasing him from his contract a year early. MacPherson would be player/assistant manager to John Coughlin, who will be Saints boss next season. The signing of Grady from Ayr United has been rumoured for a month or so, and Gilmour has admitted we'll be signing a player that the fans love to hate in the next week or so, and we certainly love to hate Grady.
Meanwhile, speculation continues over who Saints will sign next season. Forfar's Kevin Byers has been linked with us by both LoonsMAD and The Loonatic, whilst other suggestions about Alan Combe and Jamie Fullarton returning to Love Street continue.
Hugh Murray has become the latest player to sign a new 2 year deal with Saints, following in the footsteps of Brian McGinty and Simon Lappin. Mark Roberts has been offered a new deal, but is still considering it as there is supposed interest from Dundee United. Gillies, Ludovic Roy and Martin Cameron still haven't signed new deals and will probably leave at the end of the season.
Finally, Saints lost again on Saturday, meaning we still aren't safe. Even worse, Steven McGarry scored his first Ross County goal against us. As those diddy commentators on ITV would say, It Just Had To Be.
