The players leaving are Chris McGroaty and David Jack, whose contracts expire soon. McGroarty's departure is of no surprise. he was signed in the January transfer window from Dunfermline because of injury to Laurie Ellis. With Ellis and Simon Lappin fit,and Ryan McCay showing he can also play down the left. It's bye bye Chris. he wasn't that good anyway. Jack is a bit more surprising. He's hardly played for the first team, as he's been injured, but he's still only twenty. Mirren Mad wishes him all the best.
The arrival could be Mark Reilly. The former Kilmarnock player has been released by St. Johnstone and could link up with Gus MacPherson at the real Saints. Don't know much about him, but he's a midfielder in his mid thirites. We don't need a midfielder! Hopefully, if he does sign, he'll be one who goes around kicking folk :-)
Pre season fixtures have already been announced, none looking particuarly exciting. Trips to Stirling, Stenhousemuir, Queens Park and Dumbarton have all been announced, whilst Motherwell well come to Love Street.
Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour has told first division champions Inverness Caledonian Thistle to groundshare with Aberdeen to get into the SPL. Gilmour has often been against the 10,000 seat rule so it's a bit surprising. The fact we're duff against Caley and will get more money if Partick Thistle come down is just a coincidence. Obviously.
Finally, former Saints striker Stephen McPhee could be on the move. The Port Vale hitman scored 27 goals last season and looks to be off to Portugal, where he will link up with former Huddersfield boss Mick Wadsworth or whatever he's called. He's not very good, so have fun Stephen!
