The most important news is that Saints managed to draw with Hibs at Love Street on Wednesday night. It looked as if a goal from Rob Jones - courtesy of some awful defending and goalkeeping - would be enough for the visitors to win it.
However, in the 89th minute substitute John Sutton - who Saints are desperately trying to keep - managed to capitalise on a Jones mistake to lob goalkeeper Andrew McNeil and send the Saints fans wild. From reports it seems that this was Saints first goal in nearly nine hours, and their first at home in 2007. The gap to Dunfermline is now seven points, with six games left.
In other news, three players have been released by the club. Iain Anderson, Stephen Anderson and Brian McGinty have all been paid off and are free to find new clubs. The three have managed one appearance between them this season, although Stephen Anderson is a reserve player and wasn't expected to play. The other two have been injured for most of the season, although McGinty did play a few games while on loan at Dundee.
Iain Anderson helped Saints win the league last season with a few goals. McGinty scored hardly any goals in his final two and a half years with Saints, and was much abused by me, but he did score some useful ones in 2001/02 and also an important strike against Ayr in 2004.
