News Round Up

Saints have had a few trialists over the last week, with three playing in a bounce match yesterday. Craig Penman, formerly of Everton, Mark Dempsie, currently at Hibs and brother of one of their players, and Craig Stevenson, formerly of Ayr United, all played in a 2-0 defeat by Morton. Stevenson is a right back, something Saints definitely need, whilst Penman is a midfielde rand Dempsie is a defender (I think).

A few deals have fallen through the last week or so. The proposed switch involving Ian Ross and Scott McLean has fallen through. An attempt to bring in midfielder Ally Mitchell from Kilmarnock also fell through. Apparently this move was possible as we don't pay Sergei Baltacha's wages ago. Baltacha was released in September, and is currently on trial at Millwall.

Possible signing targets (well, I reckon they'd be good) involve Stuart Taylor, Brian McPhee and Paddy Flannery. Flannery is going to Morton unfortunately, whilst Taylor looks likely to be going to Inverness Caley, Dumbarton or Ross County. McPhee wants away from Hamilton as they haven't payed him for months.

Finally, a request from someone posting on our message board, who is trying to find an ugly footballer than Manchester United's Luke Chadwick. Whether this is possible or not I don't know, especially as Man Utd's own TV channel had a program called "Luke Chadwick: On The Spot" recently! Nevertheless, if you know of someone then e-mail footballsugliestman@hotmail.com and you could win a prize. Alternatively, look at http://www.uglyfootballers.com for some really ugly ones :-)
