The main story has been caused by some shocking journalism in the Sunday tabloids (or downmarket English based tabloid if you are a journalist at the Paisley Daily Express). Last Sunday some reports appeared, complete with quotes from chairman Stewart Gilmour, that 6 players were to be released the following day. Not only did this cause much worry for some of our squad members, it als turned out to be entirely false as the PDE revealed the day after. Gilmour said that, if anything, we'd be looking to offer new contracts soon, and any players leaving would only do so at the end of the season.
One player who may be leaving is Martin Cameron. Rumours appeared last week on Black and White Army that Queen's Park Rangers were going to sign him in the summer when his contract expires, and in fact he has already been offered a pre contract agreement. This is extremely bad news for Saints as Cameron's goals have made a huge difference this season.
Another piece of news involves those poor souls at Falkirk. The poor dears aren't going to have a 10,000 seater stadium ready by the March deadline, and are now trying any means possible to get into the SPL if they win the league. Saints chairman Gilmour has said he will sue the SPL for the money Saints spent on making their ground SPL compliant, and the Raith Rovers chairman has said he will join Gilmour if Falkirk are allowed into the SPL. It's unlikely Falkirk will be promoted anyway, but if they are then the SPL will be in trouble.
