The three who can celebrate tonight are Ally Love, Jon McShane and Kyle Faulds, who have been offered contracts to join up with the first team. Love, who is a leftback, is pretty highly rated by many fans and it seems the coaches hold him in similar esteem. Faulds was on loan at Arbroath last season and impressed, while McShane is a talented striker.
Unfortunately, seven players were told they wouldn't be offered contracts and they are Sean Burns, Iain Gray, Jake Cunningham, Fraser Team, Rhys Devlin, Mark McLennan. The biggest surprise is Burns, who made a couple of first team appearances last year and has been capped at various youth levels. However, he didn't feature at all last season for whatever reason so the writing has been on the wall for a while. McLennan has been on the bench numerous times this season, but that's been to make up the under-21 rule.
These were the under-19s who were too old to continue at that level. The rest - including Conor Ramsay and Kenny McLean - still have at least another year at that level, while they could end up being involved in the first team picture next season due to our reduced squad and new focus on youth.
