Gilbert featured in a bounce game that formed part of the club's open day a few weeks ago but missed a friendly with Newcastle as he got injured in the warm up. However, he did face Kilmarnock in a closed doors match last week.
The former St Johnstone and East Fife defender can play at left back or in the heart of defenc,e but it seems he wasn't quite what Lennon was looking for.
There is no word as yet on fellow trialist Nick Hegarty or former Dundee United midfielder Stuart Duff, who was offered a two year contract by Lennon a few weeks ago.
