Mr Gilmour is part of a consortium looking to sell a controlling stake in the club but, despite a few close calls, doesn't think there is any chance of anything happening soon. Rumours had suggested an announcement would be made on June 7 and while one was, it was only to confirm Danny Lennon as the new manager - not to announce a new takeover.
Mr Gilmour said: "In terms of the board of directors that are running St Mirren, it is business as usual. Yes, we have stated clearly that we feel our time has come, that we have done what we set out to do here and that St Mirren need to go on to another level.
"The right person I'm sure will come along at the right time and when that person comes it will be ideal. There have been a number of enquiries, a number of people have actually put in proposals but not proposals that the board and consortium saw to take the club forward.
"So it is business as usual, we're here to run a football club as best we can and we'll do that."
Representatives of Ayrshire haulage firm Maxi Group are supposedly still looking into a takeover, although judging from Mr Gilmour's comments it won't be completed in the near future.
