Earlier, we told you that Real Radio had claimed Thompson - a long term signing target of manager Danny Lennon - had agreed to join Saints. In fairness, we did issue a cautionery note considering Real Radio is hardly the most reliable of sources.
Sure enough, it seems they were wrong. In the last few minutes, Saints supporting Herald journalist Graeme Macpherson revealed on Twitter that Thompson is on holiday and is yet to sign anything.
It seems there is still a decent chance of the former Burnley, Scotland, Rangers, Dundee United and Cardiff striker signing for his boyhood club, but it hasn't happened yet - and don't expect any news until he's back from his holidays.
