We have no idea what Hodge, who started his career at Rangers, was like so it's hard to say if we have missed out on a good player. It's disappointing he won't be coming on trial, but players can hardly be blamed for opting for a contract with a lower league club over going on trial and risking ending up unemployed. While we could have signed him before Thistle got the chance, it would have been a bit of a risk.
Hodge had been due to join Hibs this summer but the deal fell through after they changed manager, which is when the opportunity of Saints taking him on trial arose. It is not yet known if any other trialists will join the squad when pre-season training begins on Monday.
