The club claim there is no money available to strengthen the squad, something MacPherson reiterated when talking to BBC Scotland after yesterday's win over Kilmarnock. However, he went on to say that there were two or three players lined up to come in if he is given the green light by the board, but this may involve a couple of players leaving Saints.
Ignoring the fact our squad is pretty small and no one should be leaving even if we make new signings, Andy Dorman and Stephen McGinn are probably the most obvious potential departures. The pair are out of contract in the summer and are refusing to sign new ones, so any bid may be accepted. However, as both are key members of the squad, it is likely they will be kept until the end of the season.
Other potential candidates to leave are Dennis Wyness, who recently spent a loan spell at Queen of the South, and the much maligned Mo Camara, missing from the bench yesterday. Slightly less obvious ones could be Stephen O'Donnell, Steven Robb, Garry Brady or even Steven Thomson, who missed yesterday's game with a "virus" that some internet rumours suggest was actually a bust up with the manager.
