McGinty has yet to play for either the first team or the reserves this season, having picked up an injury in the pre-season friendly against Partick Thistle in late July. The move will allow him to get some fitness, although quite why Alex Rae is expecting goals from a player who hasn't scored one for two years is a mystery!
McAusland is a young player who hasn't been near the first team and hasn't made many reserve appearances either, so the loan move presents him with the chance to get some first team experience. He is the son of Saints director Bryan.
Both players started for their new clubs today, with Dundee drawing 1-1 with Hamilton and Stranraer losing 3-0 to Cappielow.
SFL rules allow member clubs to sign loan players outwith the transfer windows. The deals mean that Saints currently have a player at a club in every division, with John Baird at third division side Stenhousemuir until January.
