Saints had been due to play Aberdeen that Saturday, however that game was moved to April 6 when the two sides were drawn together in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, meaning one of the two would be playing at Hampden on the weekend of April 16. Rangers were knocked out of the cup by Celtic and their opponents that weekend were due to be St. Johnstone, who are also in the semi-finals.
The game had originally been meant to go ahead on December 18 but was cancelled due to burst pipes at Ibrox. An attempt to play it the following month was also postponed as it clashed with our Scottish Cup replay against Peterhead.
It had looked as if we would have to play this game after the split, meaning an extra game would have to be fitted in. The fact we're getting it out of the way before the split is good news and means we'll have just as many post-split games as relegation rivals Hamilton.
