It's not the obvious one, that we both play in black and white stripes. It's nothing to do with St. James (for the thicko's, Newcastle United play at St James' Park and Paisley St James is a short distance from Love Street). It's to do with that phrase, "relieved of his duties".
It's almost exactly two years since St. Mirren did the exact same to their manager. September the 5th 2002 saw Saints boss Tom Hendrie given leave of his duties after a poor start to the season, finishing with a 4-0 thrashing at home at the hands of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. John Coughlin took over, but things didn't improve.
So, two teams who play in black and white stripes, who both have connections to St James in some way, both give their manager leave of his duties almost exactly two years apart. How very odd.
