Ross calls it quits

The former Clyde and Hartlepool rightback arrived from Falkirk in 2008 to replace the departing David van Zanten. It seemed an underwhelming signing but Ross quickly became a fans' favourite as he bombed up and down the right hand side of the park. His crossing was good and he wasn't afraid to have a shot, scoring against Dundee United.

His finest performance came against his old club in May 2009 when he surprisingly returned from injury to play in a crucial relegation display. His performance made Cafu look like a Sunday league player as he set about Falkirk, cracking the woodwork and putting in an inspiring display as we won 2-0.

Arguably, he was never the same again and struggled last season. Sadly, he will be perhaps more remembered for his involvement in a row over bonus payments ahead of the League Cup Final. he was let go by new boss Danny Lennon and, ironically, was replaced by van Zanten.

He went to Hamilton but left after a game and moved to Dunfermline. However, injuries restricted his game time and he has now had to call it a day - although will no doubt still continue his media work.

All the best Jack - thanks for that day at Falkirk.
