The Ross deal had been rumbling along for almost a fortnight. First he was going to Thistle in exchange for Scott McLean. Then the deal fell through because of personal terms. It was revived yesterday, with money instead of McLean, but a Partick Thistle website said the deal was off. However, it has gone through, according to Partick Thistle's Official Site.
Speaking to Thistle's Official Site, Ross said: "I'm ecstatic about the move, it is a good one for me and I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League once again, and to be honest I really want to be here and do the business. This club, make no mistake about it, is flying and I hope to be able to come in and do my bit."
When asked if Alex Burns, the former Saint now at Thistle, had anything to do with the move, he said: "Not at all. Alex Burns is his own player as am I. But as I say I am here to give 100% for Partick Thistle and I hope it is good enough to do the job here at Firhill. I appreciate that I am coming in at a time when there are problems with left sided defenders and this will be my chance to show what I can do. I am a versatile player who can play on the left side anywhere and once we get back into action it will be important that things go well for me."
Ross has been poor for Saints this season, partly because Simon Lappin has been playing out wide rather than Ross. Still, Burns was poor for us and is doing well at Thistle!
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Ian all the best for the future and thank him for the service he gave us, especially in the title season.
