Roy to St. Johnstone FARCE

Before we get on to that (we'll just pretend Jose Quitongo missed the rolling head or passed it to someone else) I'll give the details of the deal.

St. Johnstone, thats the lot who got us relegated last season, have signed Ludovic Roy, thats our best goalkeeper, the one who won the bigsave.com goalie of the year award in 2000, on loan for the rest of the season.

I've made it as simple as possible yet I still can't understand it. We are sturggling to stay in this division, no matter what Stewart Gilmour or Tom Hendrie say, yet we let one of our best players go on loan to St. Johnstone, of all the teams. Without Roy, second division football next season is looking almost certain.

But wait, theres more to this plot. Over the last few weeks Ludo has had various injuries, such as a thigh injury, calf injury and hamstring injury. He was rated as doubtful from some sources for tomorrow, so what do St. Johnstone want with an injured goalie? They already have Alan Main, who is rubbish at the best of times.

This brings me on to the second point of this article. Who is to blame for this farce? Well, we'll start with Tom Hendrie, and a look back to the Clyde game. Half time and everyone walks off fine. Second half, wee delay in the start. Suddenly, whats this, Kris Robertson on in goals. Where the heck is Ludo? he's injured apparently. My opinion now is, no way is he injured. Why would St. Johnstone take him? Someone said he had a bust up with Hendrie, which could well be true.

Then there is Stewart Gilmour. A man who wants the wages cut, so decides to chuck players left, right and center. Alex Burns, Steven McGarry, Tom Brown and almost Chris Wreh all leave in a matter of weeks. Now it's Roy. obviously a few grand is better now than being in Division One next season making a bit more, with the chance of being promoted to the SPL. Mind you, it probably suits Gilmour to be in Division Two with a part time squad. It would cost less and get the debt down.

Then there is Ludo himself. He didn't really help himself earlier in the season by moaning about other players, but it seems his comments were bang on and he was probably blameless.

So I reckon it's mainly Hendrie's and Gilmour's faults, as the Saints head for Division Two for 2002/2003 season. But whose next out the door? Murray? Ross? Robertson??

One thing's for sure though. Tomorrow night's game at Ayr should be interesting.
