Clyde scored two goals in the last ten minutes, one a header from a free kick, one thanks to a shocking Martin Baker passback which he never chased back to defend. Soon after Saints won a penalty, which Ricky Gillies hit the post with. Saints pulled one back with a few minutes left from good Mark Roberts goal, whilst a great save in the final minute stopped Saints snatching a point they didn't deserve. Highlight of the game was at 2-0, when referee Willie Young gave two blows of his whistle. Myself and the people around me in the PDE stand assumed it was full time and got up to leave. We suddenly realised it wasn't, sat back down and had a good laugh. Thanks for cheering us up Willie.
Now, on to the main matters. John Coughlin must go. In his audio interview he claims we worked hard. Sorry John, but we didn't. Every single member of that team was workshy, there was no effort, no commitment, which was best shown when Baker failed to chase back for the second goal. You say every week we don't replicate what we do in training on the pitch. In otherwords the players don't follow your instructions, they have lost confidence in you, they won't listen to you. Either get extremely tough with them, bring in the under 18s who will work their socks off to make an impression, or quit. My choice would be the latter.
The players, take one hell of a good look at yourselves. John Coughlin is the man you want to get the job, yet for the last couple of months your attitude has been pathetic to say the least. If you want John Coughlin to get the job then work hard to prove to us. At present most fans want COughlin to quit. Most of you should leave in the summer if this is the kind of workshy attitude which will prevail.
Despite being 9 points above the drop zone, Saints are on the fastlane to division 2 unless something happens soon. This could kill the club, something needs to be done this week. Either get rid of the manager, or bring in the under 18s and reserves, players like David Jack and the Swiss players. Hell if Ryan Robinson was still here I'd give him a game.
Most of the time I live in a flat in Edinburgh as thats where I go to University. As I have no phone line I can't update the site much, and can only do it when I'm home, which is when Saints have a home game. If it wasn't for this, and the fact I think Edinburgh is an awful city, I would have to consider whether it is worth shelling out £12 on a train ticket just to come home to see the awful attempts at football Saints are playing just now. When I first went through to Edinburgh I wouldn't even have thought about it, thats how bad it's gotten recently.
Today John Coughlin had his best back 4 out (I'd say Broadfoot is as good as Dempsie) and a high class midfield out (Murray the only absentee). From that we were still awful, and this should prove John Coughlin is not the man for the job. Please go now John, we can still manage to stay up if you do.
