There have been rumours on the internet over the past few weeks that McIntyre is close to signing for Saints and even suggestions that he had a relegation release clause - which seem to be untrue. The Buddies tried to get McIntyre last summer but he opted for Dunfermline instead, where he suffered an injury hit season before coming on form towards the end of the season.
Yesterday, Pars chairman John Yorkston said there had been no contact from Saints and added: "If that's the case, he's been illegally tapped. I can't speak for St Mirren but from our point of view, he's signed for another year with us and he hasn't got a get-out clause in his contract, such as being allowed to leave if we were relegated.
"If St Mirren want any of our players, they should not be talking to them, they should be talking to us. We have had no contact at all with St Mirren regarding any of our players."
All a bit rich considering the farce with Scott Walker a few years ago! And if we were going to tap someone up, I think we'd be going for someone other than a 35 year old forward.
Meanwhile, the chances of the alleged two signings before the squad fly out to Italy at the weekend are looking slim with the news about McIntyre and the fact Hibs player Stephen Glass is still in Austria.
