General manager Brian Caldwell said in today's Paisley Daily Express that the former Manchester United youngster was almost certain to move to Easter Road after a bidding war errupted for his services.
Saints made an initial offer of around £40,000 last week, with manager Gus MacPherson confirming the bid had been made. Caley rejected this offer, and an increased offer, claiming they were after the £65,000 they paid Ross County for him 18 months ago.
At this stage, Falkirk got involved and they also had two offers rejected. Saints and Falkirk then increased their bids to a figure believed to be around £70,000. Hibs then got involved and made an offer, but it seems they have also had two offers rejected. It would appear Caley Thistle now want £100,000 for the player!
If that's what they're after it's probably just as well Saints have decided against the move. Certain message board rumours suggest a fee of £40,000 was agreed between Saints and Caley Thistle last week and personal terms had also been sorted. Then the bidding war started.
Let's hope this business won't affect us signing any other players during January.
