While our season begins on Sunday against East Stirling, our first league game isn't until August 15. The club had previously said they were looking to arrange a friendly for the free Saturday to keep things ticking over and now they have, thanks to Wigan's game against a Spanish side being cancelled due to swine flu.
It's a pity this game won't be taking place at St. Mirren Park but I suppose it's better than nothing. The game, on August 8, kicks off at 3pm and entry is just a fiver for adults.
it isn't that long since we faced Wigan in a friendly - in 2001 they won 2-1 at Love Street with Paul Ritchie scoring for us before Tom Hendrie decided he wasn't the sort of striker he was looking for.
