The first details about the new training ground were released 18 months ago so it's a surprise it's taken as long to get to the planning permission stage.
The complex at Allanton playing fields will see a full size artificial grass training pitch and major upgrades carried out on the pavilion to include offices, a gym and cafeteria.
Saints are currently training on a variety of cricket grounds and public pitches during the week so the sooner a permanent, dedicated facility is up and running. The application was lodged with the council at the start of the month and, all being well, could be heard by councillors before the end of the year.
