Grady signed for United last summer after a fantastic season in the SPL with Partick Thistle. Before he signed for Partick in the summer of 2003 there were strong rumours that he was heading for Love Street, with Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour all but confirming the move at one point. With United appearing keen to offload him, it seems that Saints interest has been rekindled, despite the fact we now have a different manager.
That brilliant season with Partick aside, Grady has done nothing of note since Helping Dundee win the first division seven years ago. At 34 he is maybe getting past it, though don't tell Mixu Paatelainen that. There is also the small matter of an assault on Norrie McWhirter in the early 1990s that has resulted in Saints fans hating him ever since.
Grady is from Paisley and still lives in the town which would make it easier for us to sign him than, for example, Ross County. However, given his past record on both the goalscoring and hacking fronts, hopefully he'll go elsewhere.
