A recent SFL decision saw the first round of the challenge cup move to the first Saturday of the season, August 2. Therefore, after playing some relatively easy friendlies against East Stirlingshire and Stirling Albion, and an extremely easy cup final against Greenock Morton, we will have another relatively easy game against Queen's Park.
Personally I'm gutted it's not an away game, as I'd have loved the trip to Hampden! If we don't win this game, it wouldn't bode well for the rest of the season. The full draw is below:
St Mirren V Queen’s Park
Albion Rovers V East Fife
Cowdenbeath V Ross Co.
Hamilton Accies. V St Johnstone
Airdrie Utd V Montrose
Morton V Arbroath
Brechin City V Falkirk
Stenhousemuir V Peterhead
Ayr Utd V Stirling Albion
Stranraer V Queen of the South
Gretna V Inverness CT
Alloa Ath V Clyde
East Stirlingshire V Raith Rovers
Forfar Ath V Elgin City
Brechin could end up playing Motherwell if Falkirk's appeal is successful (snigger). Dumbarton and Berwick Rangers are the lucky gits who get byes to the next round.
I mentioned our friends Morton earlier. They have launched their unofficial website recently, and it really puts all others to shame! Check it out at http://www.gmfc.net
