Saints Gear Up For Scottish Masters

Last updated : 14 July 2007 By Stuart Gillespie
The Saints side is far from inspiring. While the likes of Tommy Turner, Tom Brown and George Shaw deserve their place, Ronnie McQuilter and Gus MacPherson's agent Tommy Callaghan certainly don't. The fact that there are less than 12 hours until the tournament and there is still a space in the Saints squad shows just how much effort the organisers have put into assembling the side - especially when you consider who the organisers of the Hugh Murray tournament got earlier in the year.

For the record, the squad currently is:

John Hillcoat
Tom Brown
Tom Black
Tommy Turner
Ronnie McQuilter
George Shaw
Scott MacKenzie
Tommy Callaghan
with one TBC space

There will be some other former players turning out for different clubs. Rangers will include Fraser Wishart, Celtic will have Frank McAvennie and Chic Charnley (despite the fact he never played for them) and Motherwell have Stevie Woods, Mark Reilly and Brian Martin - who was down for the Saints team earlier in the week.

Doors open tonight at 6pm with action lasting from 7.30pm until 10.30pm. As well as the football, the Scottish Rockettes cheerleaders will also be performing.

Several Saints fans have mjanaged to get a free ticket through an offer they were running, while I'm going after winning a pair in a competition. If you fancy going, tickets can probably be bought tonight - or you can watch it live on Sky Sports.
