There have been murmurings in recent weeks that Saints were trying to bring Broadfoot back to the club (check out the Rumour Mill from the other week) and it would seem from interviews with the player this week an offer has been made at some point. However, Rangers manager Walter Smith turned it down as he sees the big defender as playing a big part in his plans. Broadfoot hasn't featured much after a reasonable start to his Ibrox career, but should face East Stirlingshire in the Scottish Cup tonight.
Skelton is a hard working, left sided player who has been with Gretna since 2001 - a year before they entered the SFL - and missed the decisive penalty in the 2006 Scottish Cup Final. It's a bit of a surprise to hear we're interested in him and even more of a surprise to learn that he's turned us down. Perhaps he's waiting on someone else making him an offer or is simply after more money. Or, to use a cliche, he merely wants to focus on Gretna's relegation battle.
