The Rankin saga has been going on for a few weeks, ever since Saints made their initial offer to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. That was rejected, as were future offers from Saints, Falkirk and Hibs. Eventually a fee with the Edinburgh side - believed to be in the region of £110,000 - was agreed and the former Manchester United finally signed on the dotted line tonight.
Saints were one of a number of clubs linked with Dundee United midfielder Duff after he was told he could leave. After training with Aberdeen this morning, he agreed a deal early in the afternoon.
