Saints Miss Out On Milne

Milne had spent a few seasons at Falkirk, having previously played for Hearts and Partick Thistle, and obviously felt the time was right for a change. While Saints are believed to have made an offer for the defender - who can play at left back or left centre half - it was always likely he was going to go elsewhere when interest emerged from clubs south of the border.

Saints are in desperate need of more defensive cover, so missing out on Milne is a blow from that point of view - although whether he'd have been a good signing is up for debate. Saints' pre-season training gets underway on Monday and chances are we'll have a few trialists for the first few weeks as we try to sort out the problem areas of the team.
