The 20-year-old - who has played for the Welsh under-21 side - can play at centre half or leftback. This is ideal as we're short of numbers at centre half due to Darren McGregor's injury, while Jeroen Tesselaar's departure left us short of a leftback.
Dummett has yet to play for the Newcastle first team but was loaned to Gateshead last season and performed extremely well. He seems to be well thought of at St James' Park and Tommy Craig has obviously used his connections to set up the deal. It's only until the end of the year, with the Magpies putting the kibosh on attempts to make it last the full season.
Dummett is likely to be the only piece of transfer business Saints do today. No one looks to be leaving while Franco Miranda will spend the next week trying to win a contract. The Argentinian is a free agent so can be signed at any time and the same goes for fellow free agent Paul McGinn, who has also been training with the Buddies.
