The big Englishman has scored 11 goals this season (depending on who scored the goal against Inverness Caley in July), adding to his impressive tally of 17 in the first division last season.
In recent weeks he has been linked with a move away amid reports he had snubbed a contract, but Sutton's agent said there hadn't even been an offer for his client to snub. Now there is.
MacPherson said: "We are still hopeful that we can keep John. We have made him a very good offer and only John can say whether he will take it or not.
Whether Sutton accepts the offer or chances his luck elsewhere is entirely up to him, however I'm sure all Saints fans would be rather annoyed if we lost him to someone like Falkirk, rather than a bigger Scottish club or someone in England.
