Samson is available on a free after being let go by Ayr at the end of last season. Despite only being 26, he has already managed to play for eight clubs - a list that also includes Queen of the South, Ross County and the Dundee clubs. He has also been capped for Scotland under-21s, although did also managed to get arrested on a night out with the squad.
Samson replaces Mark Howard, who today completed his move to Aberdeen. While he'll be cheaper, he's nowhere near as good as the former Arsenal goalie. Let's just hope Paul Gallacher doesn't get injured.
The arrival of Wardlaw is even less inspiring. The31-year-old had signed a new contract while Lennon was still the manager at Cowdenbeath, but a problem with paper work seemed to make him available for free. When it emerged he wasn't, the two clubs eventually negotiated a fee for the striker, which makes the move even worse.
Wardlaw has hardly, if ever, featured at a level above the second division and has had a fairly uninspiring career. The exception is last season, when he rattled in 19 goals for Cowdenbeath, but it's extremely unlikely he'll be able to cut it at the SPL. He's the sixth person to swap Central Park for Greenhill Road, following Lennon, Iain Jenkins, Darren McGregor, Paul McQuade and Peter Bradley in making the switch.
Let's just hope the next signings we make, whoever they are, prove to be better than this pair.
