It seems Winnie is doing what the likes of Tony Fitzpatrick and Campbell Money have done in the past, signing up any ex St. Mirren player that is relatively fit for their new club. Don't be surprised if Gary Bowman or Tommy Turner or any of the other former Saints players on free transfers sign for the Sons in the next few weeks.
Hopefully Scrimgour will do considerably better at Dumbarton than he did with us. With the exception of a stunning performance in a 3-0 win at Cappielow against Morton, he was terrible. I don't think it's a coincidence that our worst run of form in the title season came when he was between the sticks, with Ludo injured. Scrimmy was only first choice for a few months at the start of 1998/99 season. Alan Combe had just left for Dundee United, and despite Ludo having being signed, Fitzpatrick decided to play Scrimgour! When he was sacked, Sergei Baltacha and then Tom Hendrie saw sense and shoved Ludo in. Scrimmy did get to play at both Parkhead and Ibrox in the SPL season and despite only conceding 2 at Celtic, he conceded 7 against Rangers. He missed most of last season, when he'd probably have been on the bench, with injury and was subsequently released.
Tom Brown arrived at Love Street at the start of the 1997/98 season, along with some money. It was a part exchange deal for Martin Baker to go to Kilmarnock. He missed a large part of the season with injury, but did score some goals when he played. The next season he got sent off a lot, including 3 times in one game against Hamilton! He managed only 2 sendings off in the title season, and 1 in the SPL, so he was improving. Showed a lot of agresion and fight, sometimes too much, he also seemed a bit injury prone. Missed a large part of the SPL with injury, then missed all of last season before being released around February time. Moved to Alloa who played him and he got some goals, however he has been released again.
Wherever they end up, we wish both Bruno and Scrimmy well.
