Gilmour is angry because similar offences in the SFL are punished with fines of around £500 or £1,000, tiny in comparison to Saints offence. Considering the head of the SFA appeal panel felt that the initial fine was over the top, it is perhaps surprising that he feels that half the original amount is an appropriate value.
£12,500 is a lot of money for a non SPL club but it seems to be the end of the matter as far as Saints are concerned. The only other option would be to go to the Court of Sports Arbitration in Switzerland, but this is seen as being too expensive.
