While these two sides are nowhere near the level we'll be facing in the SPL this season, the games we played on consecutive nights. For Shimmin to start each game and do well is good going, especially when you consider he only joined up with the squad at the start of the week. He also impressed while on trial with Morton before coming to Love Street in a bid to win a contract, with the two parties apparently unable to agree personal terms.
Shimmin started his career at Arsenal before playing for QPR and Crawley Town. Saints are desperately in need of another centre half or two so signing Shimmin would be a great help in that respect. MacPherson will speak to the defender tomorrow - although whether this is about a contract or extending his trial period remains to be seen.
