Soutar, who is on loan at Brechin from Dundee, said: "I read what the guy said and laughed. I'm not going to get bitchy about it but for a fellow pro to say anything like that just shows the boy's mentality. I came out anddived the way I normally would there were no legs out or anything. His momentun carried him through because it was a 50-50 challenge and I never thought anything of it. He apologised afterwards, which was fine.
"So for him to then come out and say that was unnecessary. It's up to him what he wants to say but this is a Scotland game we are talking about. I have more important things to worry about.' The physio has said the injury is clearing but there is still a lot of pain below the calf. When I got the injury, the first thing I thought was, 'I'm going to miss Croatia'. If I make it, it will be easily the biggest game I've played in."
Two things interest me about Soutar's comments.
1. He said he wasn't going "to get bitchy" yet proceeds to slam Russell!
2. His first thought was not of the trouble his injury would cause his team, but of missing out on the Scotland game. If a St. Mirren player did that I would be furious.
