Obviously, there was a big clear out of players over the summer, meaning several numbers were left open. By my reckoning, just four of the players who stayed have retained their numbers, with the rest shuffling up.
Paul Gallacher, Hugh Murray, Lee Mair and John Potter keep their numbers. David Barron is number 3, Garry Brady is 4 and Steven Thomson takes the number 8 shirt vacated by Andy Dorman. 9, 10 and 11 are Craig Dargo, Steven Robb and Michael Higdon respectively.
David van Zanten has taken back the number 2 shirt he held during his first spell with the club, while the rest of the new signings have numbers between 12 and 20, aside from Peter Bradley who is 26. The youngsters start at 23, meaning shirts 21 and 22 are open for new players for the first team squad.
