Trying to work out what the allocations mean is a waste of time these days. Does a certain player being handed 15 mean he's not considered a regular starter by the manager, is it his lucky/favoured number or is that just what he was told to wear?
Dougie Imrie becomes the first player for the best part of 15 years to be handed the number 7 shirt following the departure of Hugh Murray. Jon Robertson takes 8 now Steven Thomson has gone, Graham Carey bumps up to 11 and new signings Sam Parkin and Lewis Guy have 19 and 27 respectively.
Strangely, David Barron has gone from 3 to 23 while gaps created by the departures of Graeme Smith, Aaron Mooy and Paul McQuade (remember him?) haven't been filled. Instead, the likes of Marc McAusland and Kenny McLean have stuck with what they had, while youngsters such as Thomas Reilly and Jason Naismith have moved up.
