At the club AGM towards the end of 2005, Gilmour said that he hoped to have the deal sorted out by Easter, which seems to be backed up by today's news. he also hopes that building will begin some time this summer, and the new stadium will be complete and up and running by the summer of 2007, which doesn't seem too bad.
Of course, this creates a problem as Love Street is not SPL compliant. We currently have no undersoil heating in place, and, should we get promoted, Gilmour plans to ask the SPL if we could play for a season without it before moving to the new stadium.
As this is unlikely to happen (although you never know with the SPL), it looks as if the original plan of installing undersoil heating at Love Street and then taking various parts of the system to the new ground will have to be implemented. This may cost up to £250,000, but it's better that than having to groundshare or being stuck in the first division.
