McQuade scored 15 goals in the second division last season as Cowdenbeath won promotion, while 2008/09 saw him hit the back of the net 10 times. It's a decent record at lower level football, but makes you wonder if he can really cut it in the SPL. From manager Danny Lennon's comments, it seems the forward has been brought in as a squad player so could take the bench warming role previously occupied by the likes of Rory Loy and Dennis Wyness.
McQuade's early career saw spells with Dunfermline, Raith Rovers and junior side Dundonald Bluebell, before he signed for Cowdenbeath at the start of 2008. He can play up front or on the wings and appears to have some pace, something we have lacked in our front men for some time. Interestingly, it seems his mum went into labour with him while his dad was watching our 1987 Scottish Cup triumph!
McQuade is the fourth player to move from the Blue Brazil to the Buddies in the last few weeks, following Lennon, Iain Jenkins and Darren McGregor to Paisley.
