The Buddies boss revealed yesterday he was trying to bring Sutton back on loan but the Jambos - who we play tomorrow - were proving difficult to deal with. With Sutton out of the picture at Tynecastle pretty much since he moved there in the summer it looked as if Hearts were willing to get rid of him but it seems he wants more than Saints, Kilmarnock or Hibs can afford - either in terms of wages or a transfer fee.
Lennon said: "I can't go in with any more money. We've not got it. We are where we are as far as what we can pay. So as far as I'm concerned it's dead."
This is a major blow as we needed a striker before the transfer window opened - a need that increased following Jon McShane's loan move to Hamilton earlier this week. Here's hoping we get someone soon.
